What is myobrace?

The Myobrace® System is preventive pre-orthodontic treatment that focuses on addressing the underlying causes of crooked teeth, often without the need for braces or extraction of teeth, unlocking natural growth and development. Treatment is best suited to children aged 3 to 15 and involves using a series of removable intraoral appliances that are worn for 1-2 hours each day plus overnight while sleeping.

Types & phases of myobrace

  1. Habit Correction (Myobrace for Juniors) - designed for young children, this phase focuses on correcting poor oral habits that lead to orthodontic problems.
  2. Arch Development (Myobrace for Kids) - this phase is meant for slightly older children who have a mix of baby and adult teeth. This appliance aims to expand the arch to make room for adult teeth.
  3. Dental Alignment (Myobrace for Teens) - aimed at teenagers with mostly adult teeth, focusing on final alignment and detail work.

How myobrace provides expansion

  1. Arch expansion: myobrace is designed to be worn for just 1-2 hours each day and overnight while sleeping. Over time, they apply gentle pressure on the dental arches to encourage natural expansion.
  2. Muscular training: the Myobrace system also trains the muscles of the face and mouth to support proper jaw and dental arch development.
  3. Natural growth: by treating patients in their growing years, the Myobrace system aims to utilize the natural growth patterns to achieve expansion and alignment, often minimizing the need for braces or extractions later on.
  4. Integration with exercises: Myobrace often incorporates “myofunctional exercises” to improve tongue positioning, breathing, and swallowing; which all contribute to better arch development and alignment.

who is not a candidate for myobrace?

  1. Severe malocclusion: patients with extreme cases of malocclusion may require more aggressive orthodontic treatments such as braces or surgery.
  2. Non-cooperative patients: myobrace requires consistent use and active participation in the treatment process, making it unsuitable for those who are non-compliant or cannot tolerate the device in the mouth. 
  3. Complex orthodontic cases: myobrace may not be effective for addressing severe bite issues, jaw discrepancies, or rotated teeth.
